About Me
I am a screenwriter, poet, children's book author, columnist, and communications consultant.
My initial career as an English teacher led me to positions as a copywriter, advertising specialist, media spokesperson, change management facilitator, magazine publisher, public relations manager, chamber of commerce executive, and corporate communications professional. With each position, I added more experience and projects to the portfolio I have today.
In addition to being published in several poetry anthologies, my screenplay, The Candlestick Maker, has earned top placements in various screenplay competitions. Most recently, one of my children’s stories, "Together We," (illustrated by my niece, Alyssa Schieffer), was selected by Book Pipeline as runner up, while another called "Cow & Mule" will be self-published.
My blog, “Three Sides to Every Story,” focuses on life’s small but significant moments. Previously published in a handful of Midwest newspapers, the vignettes are available in a manuscript of the same name. Meanwhile I enjoy working on a myriad of other projects from poems and plays to prayers and more.
I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater and English from the University of South Dakota and a Master of Arts in poetry from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. I am also a proud graduate of Lew Hunter’s Screenwriting Colony,
When I am not working on projects, I love to consult with others on their marketing, writing, or career-building initiatives.

"This is clearly a highly original screenplay. ...The writer was skilled at making [the main character's] journey unique. There were plenty of good plot twists near the end of the script that continued to amplify the story's originality."

"...You did just a marvelous job with the writing. Something very re-readable, which is obviously important, and simple enough to understand, but still stands out amongst others in this vein."
